Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using ShadowSaver and how to troubleshoot issues.

Is ShadowSaver free to use?

Yes — the web downloader is free. We offer optional paid API plans with higher rate limits, SLAs and support for enterprise customers.

Do I need an account?

No account is required for the web interface. API usage requires creating an account and an API key.

What platforms are supported?

We support 1000+ platforms including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, Pinterest, Vimeo, Reddit, Dailymotion, Imgur, and more. If a site is missing, contact support with the URL.

Does ShadowSaver remove watermarks?

Where technically possible and permitted by the platform, we offer no-watermark downloads (e.g., some TikTok outputs). Always respect platform policies and copyright.

Is it legal to download videos?

Downloading content may be restricted by copyright law or platform terms. You should only download content you have the right to use. ShadowSaver provides tools — compliance is the user's responsibility.

Why did my extraction fail?

Common reasons: platform changed their layout (extractor needs update), URL malformed, rate-limiting, or network errors. If an extraction fails, try again later or report the URL via the contact form for quick fixes.

How long are direct links valid?

Direct links are typically temporary (short-lived) for security and anti-abuse reasons. If a direct link expires, re-run the extraction.

Where can I find API docs?

Visit /api-docs for endpoints, authentication, rate limits and examples (curl, node, python).
